Maggie Thomas was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has lived and painted in the Bay Area for the past 20 years working with the form and energy of the land.

which claims Albert Pinkham Ryder, Arthur Dove, and Georgia O'Keefe as its
most prominent exemplars.
Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She was a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome in 1998 where she worked on the fountains of Rome series. In 2001, She received a Pollock-Krasner painting grant.
